Video Card and Monitor Error #2
Error Message: Eight beeps when you try to power up the PC. This is called “Display Memory Read/Write Failure” Error and is likely to happen on systems that use the AMI/Award BIOS.
What it means: It indicates a video card memory error.
What to do: Earlier, we could pull the memory modules off from the video cards and then replace them. But nowadays, video memory are hard wired in the circuit board, and it would cost more in labor to replace the memory than to buy a new one. But if you want to replace it then before replacement, try to remove the card from the system. Blowing any dust or dirt out of its slot (if there is at all) and then firmly attach it again. The problem might be a loose connection between the card and the wires in the slot.
